April 2020 – Barry Jefferd becomes Senior Partner in the firm.
March 2020 – Nick Willis retires from the firm after 42 years’ service and, in doing so, steps down from his role as Senior Partner after 9 years.
In November 2019, we launched our new website.
In August 2019, GH Probate strengthened its team with the addition of a fourth qualified practitioner
2019 was doubly significant, as it also marked the 80th Anniversary of our Biggleswade office. This we celebrated with a 12-month schedule of 80-themed fundraising and staff-led events, as well as a big 80’s themed staff party!
6 June 2019 marked the 25th Anniversary of the opening of our Huntingdon office. We celebrated this milestone with a lunchtime reception at the Town Hall, attended by staff, partners, long-standing clients and professional contacts.
In April 2019, Colin Airey was appointed as a partner in the firm.
In 2016, Richard Dilley successfully completed the ARA certification process, enabling George Hay to support ATOL-registered companies with meeting the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
We became the second accounting practice in the country to be authorised by the ICAEW to carry out Probate Services…
In 2014, we celebrated the 75th Anniversary of our Biggleswade office. We held a drinks reception at Duxford, which was attended by staff, clients and contacts, to mark the occasion.
2011-2020 – Nick Willis becomes Senior Partner in the firm.
2010-2011 – Eddie Fuller was Senior Partner in the firm.
Re-joined the UK200 Group.
The payroll and bookkeeping division was hived off to GH Online Accounting Limited, to enable the practice to market it more efficiently.
In 1994, we opened the third of our three offices in Huntingdon, at St. George’s House. With this, George Hay were now operating from three prime locations along the A1 corridor, allowing us to meet the needs of businesses from across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and beyond.
1993-2010 – John Horsley was Senior Partner in the firm.
In 1989 the firm became members of the UK200 Group of Practising Chartered Accountants and remained members until March 2003.
In 1989, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of our Biggleswade office.
Following the success of our Biggleswade office, we opened our Letchworth office in 1982 and in doing so, made our accountancy and business advisory services available to businesses and individuals operating in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.
1960-1993 – John Lane was Senior Partner in the firm.
George Hay effectively retired from active management after being severely injured in a hunting accident. He later died in 1954.
1952-1960 – Fred Horne was Senior Partner in the firm.
1939-1954 – George Hay was Senior Partner in the firm.
The story of George Hay starts back in 1939 when the Biggleswade office was first established. Since then we’ve clocked up over 80 years working alongside start-up’s, SME’s, owner-managed businesses and larger international companies, across a range of industry sectors.
